Research Into Genres.

Our genre's that we are researching are acoustic/pop/rock, we chose these because they fit the target market of our choice which is young people.

Acoustic

Acoustic music comprises music that solely or primarily uses instruments which produce sound through entirely acoustic means, as opposed to electric or electronic means. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acoustic_music

Pop

Pop music is a music genre that developed from the mid-1950s as a softer alternative to rock 'n' roll and later to rock music. It has a focus on commercial recording, often orientated towards a youth market, usually through the medium of relatively short and simple love songs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music

Rock

Rock music is a loosely defined genre of popular music that entered the mainstream in the mid 1950s. It has its roots in 1940s and 1950s rhythm and blues, country music and also drew on folk music, jazz, and classical music. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music

The sound of rock often revolves around the electric guitar or acoustic guitar, and it uses a strong back beat laid down by a rhythm section of electric bass guitar, drums, and keyboard instruments such as organ, piano, or, since the 1970s, synthesizers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music

  • Pop rock
  • Garage rock
  • Folk rock
  • Psychedelic rock
  • Glam rock
  • Progressive rock
